On Thursday 6th (20:30) I'll show up at the Paradiso (Amsterdam) to see/hear The Night of the Unexpected 2007. The Night of the Unexpected is a one night festival presenting new developments in contemporary music.

On friday the 7th I'll travel to The Hague to hear a concert for three diktaphones and a double bass player by DIKTAT.
The performance happens at King Kong Prinsessengracht 8, which is near the Grote Markt in The Hague (Den Haag).
DIKTAT:
three dictaphone players meet up with a double bass player ... in silence [and / then / or] in whirls of voices, sounds and furies ... [while] ... sometimes they speak together ... they sometimes fight ... sometimes they clash ... [and / then / or] cook, bottle, break, jump, hump, thump, friggle, giggle, wiggle, cheat, beat, read, lower, higher, upper, nozzle, bottle, bumper, whimper, slimper, rimple ... [out / in] dutch, french, japanese, german, english, arabic, spanish, thaï, arabic, italian, korean, swahili, vietnamese, yo, arabic, and ...

D I K T A T is Jean Bordé - double bass, Rinus van Alebeek, Emmanuel Rébus and HarS - all dictaphones

Greetz from the Dutch mountains!

Review of both nights

The concept of "The Night of the Unexpected 2007" should be copied worldwide. Interesting and varied line-up, perfect stage-assembly, superb flow of the schedule and great sound made an awesome evening with only some critics to bring in.
POLE played with band, the music was great but way too loud. I felt that his music lost athmosphere and density. The metal-experiment by JAZKAMER full metal line up added nothing new to the metal history, was no inspiration, while MoHa! enjoyed with a driving set between electro-punk & Mahavisnu Orchestra.
The koto player Michiyo Yagi satisfied playing her instrument traditinally or in a wild jazz-fushion with Peter Brötzmann (sax) and Paal Nilssen-Love (drums).
At all a great night with an extra fair entrance fee (15.-€).

Diktat played a quite insteresting show at a very nice art space/club called King Kong in The Hague.
Great concert, excellent double-bass by Jean Bordé, but sometimes a bit too loud (what the young people at King Kong maybe liked more then I) which brought the dictaphones a little bit too much in the background.
You can see a video-recording at YouTube.

cheers Wolfgang
