As I wrote in my blog some weeks ago in April that the album is fading out - is dead, gone, history!

Digital downloads change the face of music production dramatically. It seams that in the iTunes world the song killed the album. What a pity.

Data:
Tunacore sold 2009 26,23 million songs but only 1,47 million albums. The RIAA data speak the same lanuguage: 1.388 million songs versus 76 million albums.

In the days of vinyl and CD it was the opposite.

It seams that only connoisseurs and "snobs" will release and buy albums in the near future.

Ubuntu One Music Shop

Great! Ubuntu my favorite linux distro teamed up with 7digital to provide digital music in a price range from 0,79.- to 1,49.-€.

My music player RHYTHMNPLAYER has Ubuntu One Music Shop integrated in the GUI (Ubuntu 10.04) and as a Ubuntu One (cloud) user you can store the files already there. The sound quality of the mp3-songs ranges from 192 to 320 kbit/s depending on the price.
Payment is easy with creditcard or PayPal.

Beside physical work it makes real fun to work on the final mix of the “The Now Music Quartet” - CD feat. Doug Hammond (dr, voc., comp.), Dwight Adams (tr), Roman Filiu (alto sax) & John Sass (tuba) or on a CD-documentary with Klaus Hollinetz (there will be also a DVD available) of the Parade which happend early may 2009.

No Long tail???!!!

A recent study by Will Page and Andrew Bud, which claimed more than 10 million of the 13 million music tracks available on the Internet failed to find a single buyer last year.

No long tail!!????? This study tries to show us the complete opposite of the quite proven theory of autor Chris Anderson who gave us hope to gain markets through the internet in his book The Long Tail (2006).

What is the long tail? A shop with pysical products has only little or no space for niche products. They only sell products of high quantities in short periods. Like the hit and blockbuster entertainment industry.

Victims: Flyer

"Victims" a movie by Nino Strohecker (director, producer), Wolfgang Dorninger (music), Didi Bruckmayr (vocals) and Ruth Karner (executive producer) won a honorable mention price at the New Jersey Fall Film Festival 2008!

Its the second price for the experimental movie this year, just great!
