"membrane" by Dorninger hits the home stretch

membrane

"membrane" the upcoming album by Dorninger is nearly finished.

Two tracks still make me quite a little bit unhappy (sound!???!) but all other tunes sound extra fine for me.

The music is based on recordings with microphones (-> membrane) and in most cases I only use quite "old" technologies like editing, eq's or pitch-shifting. Wild mind-expanding VST plugins are used very seldom, only 2-3 times on the whole album (like in "Asten").

The album will be released as CD plus a 12" vinyl record on base records. Out early october 2010.

Feel free to listen to "Micro-Move" to get a little idea how "membrane" sounds.

Music = Mobil!

Rega Planar: My turntable!Rega Planar: My turntable!

Most of the people listen to music mobil!

As I wrote in some blog-entries before we have constant changes in the way we listen/consum/interact music.

When I was a kid I bought vinyl 12" records and seldom 7" singles (mostly from Ralph Records). Why? I love the album. Not the hit or song was my prefered music experience, no it was the album. I've spent many hours a day listening to albums alone or with friends to get not only a song or music. The artistic behind was the thing I was into.

E.P.Kirch - R.I.P.

You now we all live in a cloud call social media. Before media operated as sender. We decided what signal we take and that it was. When I was a kid we also had our networks, circles and social plattforms. Saturday night we always came together to listen, discuss and fight for our new records.
It was so simple. 10 guys (no women??!) talked about music, why they bought a record, why Eric Clapton is more boring than Leslie West, ???!! ......

Customer's Decision: The Album Is History!

As I wrote in my blog some weeks ago in April that the album is fading out - is dead, gone, history!

Digital downloads change the face of music production dramatically. It seams that in the iTunes world the song killed the album. What a pity.

Data:
Tunacore sold 2009 26,23 million songs but only 1,47 million albums. The RIAA data speak the same lanuguage: 1.388 million songs versus 76 million albums.
Nice graphics here.

In the days of vinyl and CD it was the opposite.

It seams that only connoisseurs and "snobs" will release and buy albums in the near future.

Ubuntu One Music Shop

Ubuntu One Music Shop

Great! Ubuntu my favorite linux distro teamed up with 7digital to provide digital music in a price range from 0,79.- to 1,49.-€.

My music player RHYTHMNPLAYER has Ubuntu One Music Shop integrated in the GUI (Ubuntu 10.04) and as a Ubuntu One (cloud) user you can store the files already there. The sound quality of the mp3-songs ranges from 192 to 320 kbit/s depending on the price.
Payment is easy with creditcard or PayPal.

Bad: Until now there is no base records stuff available at the Ubuntu One Music Shop.

More bad: The 7digital indiestore is not available via Ubuntu One Music Shop. Please change this as soon as possible.

Is Tracktion Dead?

I LOVE TRACKTION!"

The last three weeks I was looking for alternatives for Tracktion 3.
Why? The last update was february 2008 and some bugs are not fixed since these days!!

BUT I DON'T WANNA CHANGE ANYHOW. I LOVE THIS PIECE OF SOFTWARE.

Digital downloads - another thesis!

Published in

Peer2peer is killing the record-industry and the revenues of labels and artists. Digital copies too, ..... thats what we hear from the RIAA, IFPI and the record industry. There is a truth in their arguemnts for sure. But days before peer2peer people also made copies from their favorite radio shows, dubbed from their friends LPs. It happened the same like today but a little bit slower indeed, but people "downloaded" in a certain way.

Ernesto from TorrentFreak (full article here)brought in a different thesis based on statistics from the RIAA why the recording indtry is loosing markets and revenues.
